Character Builders
Chris Wiley
Chris is uniquely suited in his role. He is a 20 year professional actor, teacher, and entertainer; an amateur father, gamer, and nerd; and an eternal kid-at-heart. He has worked with educational LARPS for 15 years and is proud to have been part of the founding of The Story School in 2013 all the way through developing Camp FABLE and Camp Grimoire this year.
Chris believes in the power of stories and roleplay to "level up" campers into heroes through autonomy, progress, and belonging. Chris is particularly proud of the inclusionary steps The Story School has taken to be a home for neurodiverse and queer youth.
His skill at physical storytelling, love of learning, innate connection to children and terrible habit of telling dad jokes (they are quite aPARENT once you get to know him) make him the perfect fit to oversee the programs of The Story School.
Laura Hall
Laura is thrilled to be returning for her fourth summer with The Story School on the Director team. She has devoted herself to extra curricular education and has a bachelors degree from Central Michigan University with an emphasis in Outdoor Recreation and Youth Studies. She loves sports, theater, and music, which blends seamlessly into her passion for professional wrestling. Laura is most looking forward to meeting all the first time campers and introducing them to the world of immersive storytelling.
Nate
Head Counselor
Nate (he/him) is once again thrilled to be rejoining the staff of The Story School for his third year as head counselor. Nate has been enamored with every aspect of this wonderful camp from his first forays into the world of LARP as King Arthur! Before he made his way into the world of the Story School, Nate studied at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, where he earned degrees in Elementary Education and Performing Arts: Theatre, before going on to earn his master's in Special Education. Nate now works as a 5th-grade special education teacher at a middle school in Haverhill, MA, where he also runs the drama and D&D clubs. Nate cannot wait for another summer full of lovely days, fantastic co-workers, incredible performances, and happy heroes. Hope to see you this summer!
Jarred
Jarred has worked with the Story School for a full decade as of this summer! He is excited to reprise his role as the lead Logistics Director and to work with his team to write and direct the stories for the heroes this summer. Outside of camp, Jarred is a full time teacher of social studies for high school students, teaching Economics, Psychology and Anthropology, putting his degree in education to good use.
Outside of his professional life, Jarred is, like many at the Story School, a huge nerd. He enjoys video and board games where he can test strategy, and reading mysteries and fantasy novels like Percy Jackson. In addition, he is an avid D&D player and is just about to finish up a 5 year long campaign of a game with friends. Similarly, he runs his school's D&D club to give kids the chance to play and express themselves.

Alice
Assistant Logistics Director
Alice is a recent graduate of Appalachian State University, and will be returning for a third summer with The Story School! They enjoy LARP, DnD, and other roleplaying games. Alice has a passion for encouraging and fostering the creativity and imagination of younger generations, and adores playing all different sorts of characters! Alice is thrilled to be at Camp Fable 2024- she’ll see you there!
Chevy
CiT Coordinator
Chevy is a second year staff, working this year as the CiT Coordinator. Currently living in Oregon, he has a long time love for the nerdy, fantastical, and bizarre. He has a very spoiled cat, named Lucy, who runs the house. He loves playing various games on his Switch, watching TTRPG content, and looking around his backyard for mushrooms to photograph. His favorite fairytales include The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Thumbelina, and Peter Pan. This summer, he's excited to see what adventures unfold with the heroes, both in and out of game.
Anders
Volunteer Coordinator
Anders has years of actual play experience in podcasts and live streams, so he is excited to bring back his skills to help inspire others at camp this Summer. He's looking forward to seeing lots of growth from everyone since last he saw them.
Daine
Camp Nurse
Diane has been the glorious healer of nature's classroom since 2015 and has benevolently decided to grace The Story School with their wisdom and skill. They like snakes and snake based mythos, disdain chickadees, desire to learn the ways of the blade, and are always in it for the bit.
Braeden
Curriculum Counselor
Braeden is an undergraduate student studying math and physics, with the ambition of getting his master’s education and one day teaching high school math and physics. During his free time he enjoys playing D&D, reading, hiking, and planning for the next summer at The Story School! This summer, Braeden is most looking forward to the opportunity to combine his love of fantasy with his passion for supporting the interests of heroes as they embark on their many adventures.
Jaden
Curriculum Counselor
Sam
Logistics Counselor
Living and growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sam began volunteering in kindergarten classrooms in 2013 and has since worked in a variety of both volunteer and paid childcare positions. In 2020 she joined The Story School as a counselor for its virtual camp season and from there moved on to be a year-round virtual instructor in 2021 and then a residential counselor in both 2022 and 2023.
When not working or volunteering, Sam enjoys photography, playing board games, and crafting (she has a few new ones up her sleeve to teach this summer).
Sam is excited to see all of the new and returning heroes, and to be a part of the stories they all create in the 2024 season, both in and out of character.
Janet
Logistics Counselor
Janet (pictured as the Hero Lead "Baer") is returning to the Story School for the 2024 season, reprising her role as Logistics Counselor: half Hero Lead and half Plot writer, NPC actor, and Mod Construction crew. Hailing from the hilltowns of western MA and having done her time at Bennington College, she's a New England native and has been playing pretend in the woods just about as long as she can remember. Janet comes to the Story School through background in creative writing, artifact creation, acting, and years of musicianship. Ever passionate about collaborative, interactive, and immersive storytelling, she can't wait to get back into the game and build an amazing narrative and experience both for and with the campers this season!
"Panda"
Logistics Assistant
Panda is a long time member of The Story School and a proud fool who believes that fun is the most important part of learning. Between helping the heroes out behind the scenes, Panda enjoys practicing in all facets of theater arts. From producing radio and television programs, to participating in stage play in the wings or box office.
Panda is more than excited to get right back on track to help the heroes against whatever may await them in the near future, because heroes will never have to fight alone here at The Story School. Panda just often ends up helping a little too much and giving the heroes a little extra work.. oops!
Rose
Videographer / Counselor
Born and raised in London, Rose joins us this summer fulfilling a life long dream of many children in chilly England to take part in a warm American camp experience!
Rose’s educational and professional background also comes from the British arts scene, having attended film school in London and worked in the industry for the following seven years she will be using her experience to take on the videographer role at camp hoping to capture wondrous adventures.
In her spare time Rose enjoys exercise, beekeeping, Dungeons and Dragons - as both player and DM and doing dramaturgy for her friends in interactive theatre!
Joseph
Returning Counselor
An Arlington native, Joseph has been in the Story School since before it properly existed- despite only recently joining our outdoor camps- and is excited to be part of the newest iteration. Joseph is studying early childhood education in hopes of using what was learned here to bring more joy to the world. Joseph is a lifelong lover of science fiction and fantasy, and role-playing games of all sorts, and looking forwards to spending the summer teaching in a world of magic.
Isaac
Returning Counselor
Grace
Returning Counselor
Huzzah! Grace is excited to return as a counselor for her sixth summer with The Story School! When not at camp, Grace studies English and Creative Writing as a Junior in college where she hopes to cultivate her skills to one day become a screenwriter and make storytelling her career. In her free time, she also enjoys playing DnD, cosplaying, and acting with her college theater group. She recently got to fulfill her dream of acting in a Shakespearean play when she played Prince Escalus in Romeo & Juliet.
This summer, Grace is most excited to meet campers old and new and to see all of the wonderful stories they create. She is excited to watch campers become heroes as they find their strength and compassion, and their power to change the world.

Riley
Counselor
Originally from California, Riley now lives in New England after completing a four year degree at Norwich University. He hopes to utilize his degree to assist in the security of networks and handling network forensic work in the near future. He most looks forward to enjoying the beautiful New England woods and telling stories with all the folks that he meets with the memories that they will form.
In his free time, Riley is an AVID storyteller for both LARP and DnD over the past several years. When not telling stories or simply existing with friends, he greatly enjoys engaging in other nerdy hobbies like Magic: The Gathering and drawing fantasy art.
Aeryn
Counselor
Aeryn is a writer, actor, and storyteller semi-professionally! Originally from South Carolina, Aeryn took to using storytelling, theatre, and games to both teach and give potentially new outlooks on situations that younger audiences may be going through in their real lives. Aeryn has been involved with LARP spaces, as well as working with and guiding children for the last 4-5 years. Aeryn is currently finishing a degree in Psychology, with plans to one day open an office that focuses on using creative tools like writing, games, and more to help impact the lives of children and teens.
Outside of work, Aeryn can often be found making art, music, or food! Aeryn is often seen as an energetic and welcoming person, who is usually always available to lend a hand!
Joey
Returning Junior Counselor
Joseph is a graduate student from University of Massachusetts Lowell with a major of psychology and a minor in sociology. His hope is to work with children who have disabilities and provide them with support and help such as ensuring that they are treated with empathy and understanding in settings like The Story School. Joseph is looking forward to engaging with the campers this season.
In his free time, Joseph likes to read stories such as those that are considered adventurous, watching movies and tv shows, playing video games, and role playing with his youngest brother. Joseph is profoundly grateful to have coworkers who care about helping people who have disabilities as much as he does and are understanding. In the end Joseph plans to come back as many summers as he can to work at The Story School. He doesn't know what life would have looked like if he had not applied to the job.
Maks
Junior Counselor
Growing up all over the world, Maks spent a lot of time immersing himself in the various myths and legends of whatever country he was living in. When his parents told him about the Story School at the age of 11, he didn't let the ocean between them stop him from being immersed in a mixture of wild stories and enriching STEM activities. Now an adult and a student of psychology at Champlain College, Maks attributes his lifelong fondness for roleplaying games and love of folklore to his prolonged stay with the summer program. He now returns as a staff member to give back lifelong memories and friendships he gained as a camper to any newcomers hoping to engage in fantastical fun.
When he’s not busy screaming in a goblin mask or flexing as a Greek hero, Maks spends his time DMing way too many D&D games, acting, and trying to figure out how the internet works.
Katie
Junior Counselor
Katie is a rising college freshman, planning to study technical theater with a focus on costuming. This is their first time with Camp Fable, but they have been attending overnight camps since elementary school. They are excited to join the Story School community as a junior counselor.
Outside of school, Katie loves to dance, play guitar, and read fantasy novels. They are a long time Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons player. They have been making clothes for the past four years, writing fiction for many more, and are looking forward to creating new stories at camp. They will be missed by their four cats, but are thrilled to be a part of camp this summer
