Meet Our New Camp Director Haley Mosher

As excited as we are to launch our new 2021 camp season, we are even more excited to introduce to you our brand new camp director, Haley Mosher! Haley has over fifteen years of camp experience, both as a camper and a counselor, holds a bachelor’s degree in Parks & Recreation Management, and served as the Wizards & Warriors assistant camp director in 2020.

Haley’s love affair with summer camp started at age seven, when she attended her first camp and immediately decided that her career goal was to become a camp counselor. Fifteen years later, her dream has come true!

Haley’s summers have been filled with a variety of camps, where she enjoyed traditional tent camping, activities like rock-climbing and archery, and made many lasting friendships. “Camp is a place of expression and acceptance,” Haley says, “which creates an environment of safety where people feel comfortable being themselves.” She credits her past camp counselors for their example, inspiring her to grow and develop leadership skills by modeling how to stay calm in challenging situations, and how to help kids feel safe and comfortable. In the course of her varied experience, Haley has organized programs for as many as 3,000 people.

At Appalachian State University in North Carolina, Haley studied Parks and Recreation Management, and completed her required 10-week internship with Wizards & Warriors camp in 2019. This endeavor included administration, correspondence with parents, organizing schedules, learning to sword-fight with our campers, and working alongside the camp counselors.

In 2020, she was named our Assistant Camp Director. Throughout the Covid-crazy year, Haley continued to gain experience by acting as the Camp Director for Wizards & Warriors virtual summer camp programs.

We are thrilled to have her back with us this summer in the role of Camp Director for The Story School's residential camps!
