November is a big month for adventures and our heroes. With two full day school break adventures (Veterans' Day on November 11th and Black Friday on November 26th) with both in-person and online options. But our most exciting news for the month is our first annual charity auction coming up on December 7th!
Story School's 1st Charity Auction
After receiving a number of donations and support for our upcoming camp year, we are hoping to give back to our wonderful community as we continue to raise funds.
The Event:
You are all cordially invited to attend our silent auction on Tuesday, December 7th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at our new facility in the Academy for Creative Arts located at 12 A Street, Burlington MA. The event will feature video presentations, speeches, some potential guest character appearances from our camps, an activity space for our heroes, a light dinner, and so much more! As this is our first auction event, we are aiming below a "gala" style event but invite all our attendees to wear what they feel comfortable in (especially if it is a costume).
We are balancing the safety of our community with providing a fun event so please note that in-person tickets will be limited and the event will be fully masked except for designated areas for food for everyone's safety.
We will be running a virtual component to the auction so that our families that feel more comfortable staying at home and distancing can still participate.
The Auction:
The auction will feature offerings from local small businesses in Burlington as well as some larger ticket items that we know are going to be a hit with our campers, students, and families (gift baskets, tech items, family-friendly experiences, and more). The list of auction items will start to be added to our auction page in advance of the auction with the full listing available by November 25th.
The auction will be conducted as a silent auction that will open at the start of the event. Items for the auction will begin to be posted on our new support page: thestoryschool.org/donate.
How To Attend or Donate:
Tickets are available via our Auction Ticket and Donation form. Tickets are $20 for adults (ages 16+) and $10 for kids (between 4 - 15). Kids under the age of four are free but will not be allowed in our activity area. Virtual tickets are $20 and good for one device.
To donate for the auction, you can go to the same form and let us know what item you would like to donate. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, all in-kind donations are tax-deductible and you will receive a receipt for your donation.
We hope to see you at the auction!
School Break Adventures in November
We have two wonderful school break adventures happening this November. Our full-day school break adventures run from 9:00am - 3:00pm. Following the success of our in-person Indigenous Peoples' Day adventure (see below), we will be offering our November 11th and November 26th full day adventure both in-person (at 12 A Street in Burlington) and virtually (via Zoom)
Picking up where our heroes left off from October 11th's "Pirates, Monsters, and Curses, Oh My," our next adventure, "Curse of Ten Million Teeth," on November 11th will challenge our heroes to continue their water-based story, battling monsters on the seas and solving puzzles along the way.
Our final November Adventure, will pick up wherever the heroes end up getting tossed about on the ocean to conclude our 2021 School Break Adventures. Join us for one or both adventures on our event registration page.
Summer Camp Pre-Registration
Don't wait and don't forget to pre-register for 2022 Summer Camp. After our flash sale this past month, we are already seeing a number of registration spots being taken. Sign up today to secure your spot in camp and to secure the lowest pricing of our camp season. With the return of in-person day camp in Burlington and our new outdoor camp location at Prindle Pond, this is shaping up to be an amazing camp season.
Donor and Community Appreciation
Finally, and fiercely, thank you to all our donors, campers, members, and our community. We have already raised over $10,000 toward our yearly goal of $50,000. We know that the pandemic has been rough for everyone and any acts of kindness and goodwill shine even brighter in the dimness that the last two years have cast over the world. Here are some of the goals you have helped accomplish already:
Repurchasing props and costumes for classes and camps we had to donate or sell last year
Putting a down payment on our new camp location with more space, charm, and potential than last year
Beginning to restock STEAM and health supplies for 2022
We continue to march onward and each step we take is thanks to all of you that have been at our backs. This month, we continue toward reaching our fundraising goals and will be highlighting our year-round classes for our Giving Tuesday Fundraiser this year. So please, keep sharing our campaigns and recommending our programs to heroes you know will benefit.
Once again, thank you all! We hope you'll join us at our November happenings this month. See you in the adventures!
